What can you use your 0870 number for?

Here's a few ideas from people who have already signed up:

* "I have an Orange mobile phone connected to Everyday 50, I only use it for ten minutes a day at most so I'll be calling my own 0870 number to use the balance up..."
- Good idea, this could raise extra revenue per month on your account.

* "I call my office from my mobile phone so I have taken out an 0870 pointing to the number I call - and registered it to myself"
- Why not!, get paid to call the office -The same applies to numbers you send faxes to regularly or office modem lines. It does not have to be your own line at all!

* "I have friends, family or colleagues who are not on the Internet and therefore cannot register directly."
- Why not tell them about it and send the details through your email account then they can benefit too.

* "Can I have more than one 0870 number on one line as I prefer to say I have phone AND fax?"
- Yes, this also gives a more professional business look although each number has it's own account.

* "I have to dial into the company computer to obtain prices and return daily sales so have taken an 0870 number for this"
- 0870 can be routed to any destination landline and this is yet another ideal scenario.
* "I work from home and call the office dozens of times a day so I've put an 0870 number on their line and I get the benefit"
- This works only if you are calling at national rate anyway, if your office is in the same town you actually LOSE doing this!
* "My company took out 0870 numbers with you then changed all our 'real' numbers and made them ex-directory, now callers are only ever given the 0870 number"
- Business users are taking this kind of option up all the time, it is also possible to have your old numbers replaced with a recorded message advising your new 0870 number(s) which forces callers into using the 0870 number. This overcomes some problems we have heard about where clients are reluctant to call 0870 if they know the 'real' number.
* "I am a service engineer and our clients have dial-back modems, we have now set all of these to our 0870 number attached to our modem."
- Another good idea for a given application, the client would have been paying national rate anyway but not too good an idea if they are local.

Please note that 0870 numbers are ALWAYS charged at the full National Rate. They are NOT subject to discount offers such as the 3p/2p/1p offers made by some cable companies or where calls are originated using a discount prefix.
